So after almost two years of working out, I've finally started to show some slack. Maybe it's because the gym is quite a bit further now that I'm living in an apartment. Or maybe it's due to the increase of work and time required to study with these upper division classes. I also might just be getting lazy... It's probably a combination of them all.
I've decided it's time to get back to it though, to change up my routines AND my diet in order to build a more well-rounded body that's overall more beastly. Since I can cook my own food now, I have the ability to really control what goes into my body. To be able to choose what fuels and repairs your muscles is already half of the game (the other half being exercise). But it IS a pain and waste of time to cook, so I often get lazy and probably end up eating a fraction of the amount I should be getting in. So, goal #1: to stop gaming and cook healthy food when my body needs it throughout the day.
As far as workouts go, I have plenty of routines that have given me noticeable gains in the past, but I definitely left some body parts out. The most notable of those being the legs, lower back, and overall cardio. As I worked out today, I also remembered how important form is. I used to be a form-freak, and although my form now is not horrible, I could certainly step it up again. To me, form isn't just how it looks, but how it FEELS. You should feel much more control and burn by exercising with good form. If this means lowering the weight by 20lbs, then do it, but always remember to challenge yourself to your maximum capability. So, goal #2: to include more frequently the use of squats, dead lifts and running while keeping up with form and pushing myself with heavier weights in all areas I previously worked out.
Last but not least comes rest. Being a student with classes at 8 and 9AM in the friggin' morning combined with a crap load of assignments and tests to study for does not help when it comes getting a good night's sleep. Sometimes I nap, but I try not to. Although I complain about school, I certainly don't make the situation any better by watching YouTube, movies, or playing games each day. So, goal #3: to make good use of my time, become more efficient in getting stuff done, and get a consistent 6-8 hours of sleep each night, with small naps if necessary. (6 may sound meager to some, but it's a hell of a lot better than 3-5 hours!)
Alright, let's do it!!!
